Federal Reserve System

The Federal Reserve System is the central bank of the United States, established in 1913 to provide the country with a stable monetary and financial system. It comprises three key components: the Board of Governors (located in Washington D.C.), twelve regional Federal Reserve Banks (each serving a geographic district), and the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC), which is responsible for setting monetary policy and directing open market operations.
