Home Equity
Home equity is the portion of a property's value that a homeowner actually owns, calculated as the difference between the home's current market value and the outstanding amount of all loans or liens secured by the property. It represents the owner's financial interest in their home and increases as mortgage principal is paid down or as the property value appreciates.
