Medicare

Medicare is a federal health insurance program in the United States primarily for individuals age 65 and older. The program consists of four main parts: Part A (hospital insurance), Part B (medical insurance), Part C (Medicare Advantage—private health plans offering coverage beyond Parts A and B), and Part D (prescription drug coverage). Beneficiaries are responsible for premiums, deductibles, and copayments, and coverage includes hospital care, outpatient services, preventive care, and prescription drugs. Medicare is funded primarily through payroll taxes, government contributions, and beneficiary premiums.
