Policy Rider

A policy rider is an optional add-on or amendment to an insurance policy—such as life, health, or property insurance—which modifies, enhances, or restricts the coverage and benefits beyond the standard contract’s provisions. Riders allow policyholders to customize their insurance to address specific needs, such as adding coverage for critical illness, disability waivers, accidental death, long-term care, or additional insureds. Most riders come at an extra cost and must usually be added when the policy is first purchased, making it important to weigh any additional premium and terms before selecting.
